Facebook strikes again. Woolworths, Coles and IGA employees have been caught abusing their customers online in Facebook “hate” groups. Groups such as “I work at Woolworths and it’s hurting my mental health”, and “I hate stupid customers because … venting group” have been exposed in the news, along with some venomous posts. A Coles employee wrote on the company’s Facebook page: “99% of our customers are thieves ... the other 1% are innocent”.
Want to hear more? How about this from a Woolworths employee: “The customers ... holy mother of god, how can so many idiots exist, where do they come from?"
Or perhaps this little gem: “If you are at the deli or seafood, be nice to the people that are serving you, we can give you the sh***y stuff!”
An IGA spokesperson said they ‘discouraged’ that kind of discussion, and suggested employees involved should ‘undertake counselling’.
I like that response. Very understated.
